JAXPORT Board unanimously names choice for CEO
The Jacksonville Port Authority Board of Directors unanimously voted to offer the position of JAXPORT Chief Executive Officer to long-time maritime and public agency executive Juan Kuryla, who accepted the board’s invitation to enter into contract negotiations immediately.Kuryla is currently deputy port director of PortMiami, overseeing day-to-day management of all facets of both Miami’s cargo and cruise operations. Kuryla has been with Miami’s port for 15 years in positions of increasing responsibilities. Prior to joining PortMiami in 1998, Kuryla held management positions within other divisions of Miami-Dade County, including public works, finance and county manager’s office.
The board’s standing audit committee, made up of Vice Chairman Joe York, Treasurer John Anderson and Member John Allen Newman, will now conduct contract development and negotiations, with the full board giving final approval upon successful completion of an employment agreement.
