The snapshot of LA/Long Beach Saturday afternoon shows the reported 32 massive cargo ships sitting anchored. In wake of little movement at the negotiation table, the 29 US West Coast Ports for the most part are closed going into Monday with a planned reopening Tuesday. Over the weekend President Obama dispatched his Secretary of Labor Tom Perez to jump start the talks between the shipping companies and the dockworkers union. Last week’s multiple association letter to the President spoke of the increasing concern in regards to lack of movement in the labor talks that are stretching into its 10th month. We feel that this is a positive step or at least a step in the right direction was taken by the President and fingers crossed going into next week.
