At the end of the meeting with Alitalia trade union representatives, Chairman and CEO Jean-Cyril Spinetta confirmed the AIR FRANCE KLM Group's determination to contribute to Alitalia's long-term recovery. He underlined his ambition to implement a profitable growth strategy for the Italian airline. He also stated that the AIR FRANCE KLM Group would underwrite a capital increase of 1 billion euros, providing Altialia with investment capital.

This strategy implies rapidly restructuring the carrier, by downsizing the fleet and reorganizing its filght schedule. Some 1,600 job cuts are also planned, for which state severance schemes will be implemented.

Regarding AZ Servizi, Jean-Cyril Spinetta has proposed to transfer some 2,800 people to Alitalia Fly and retain remaining staff within AZ Servizi for up to two consecutive periods of four years.

Jean-Cyril Spinetta has called for clear thinking, without which no satisfactory deal may be reached.
