AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC), one of the largest airfreight airlines at Frankfurt Airport, has signed another long-term freight handling contract with Fraport Cargo Services (FCS). ABC has been operating out of Frankfurt since 2005 with B747 cargo aircraft.

ABC has been using the freight handling services of FCS since August 2008, and during this time has strengthened its position as one of the leading cargo airlines at Frankfurt Airport. For 2009 and 2010, in fact, ABC was honored as FCS's largest customer.

ABC is currently operating 18 cargo flights a week via its hubs in Moscow to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo-Narita, Beijing, Osaka, Almaty, and Seoul-Incheon.

The decision was motivated by FCS's well-established processes, exclusively utilized hall space, and reliable and high-quality handling, as well as the fact that it will be possible for ABC to grow long-term in a partnership with FCS.

Ludwig Hamburger, ABC's Regional Director and VP for EMEA, had this to say about the renewed collaboration between AirBridgeCargo and Fraport Cargo Services: 'We feel very well taken care of with FCS as our partner and have therefore decided to stay with them on a long-term basis. Over the last few years we have worked together to steadily improve the handling processes in the interests of our customers. By extending our partnership, we have set the stage for us to continue growing at Frankfurt.'

Winfried Hartmann, the managing director of FCS, stated that 'the new long-term agreement with AirBridgeCargo, which is our biggest customer, gives us considerable security for planning our company's activities in the years ahead. This is important because it lets us proceed with projects for expanding and optimizing our capacities. In order to be ready for future growth, right now we are modernizing our import handling operation by enabling more efficient use of space and introducing IT-assisted storage and retrieval processes. Our customers will greatly benefit from faster handling of import consignments. We value ABC as a strategic partner and are very pleased by the trust in us that they have expressed with this decision.'
