Alianca Navegacao e Logistica, and its parent organization, Hamburg Sud, earned numerous Brazilian industry and governmental awards during 2005, evidencing the excellence and quality of the services provided by the carrier in the Latin American marketplace.

The TOP LOG ’ 2005 Leading Brands Award, organized by IMAM Institute, recognized the logistics brands preferred by users. The company won the Award in the Service Providers segment, Sea Freight category, receiving accolades from major clients during ceremonies held this December.

‘We work with Alian’a and totally trust in the services it provides. Therefore, we were most pleased to grant the TOP LOG Award to Alian’a, whose key differentiators are the offering of a weekly, fixed-day service at every harbor between Manaus and Buenos Aires, in addition to the best transit time and more competitive prices,’ commented Fernando Silva, logistics expert at Suzano Petroqu’mica in making the presentation.

The company and the vessel COPACABANA received from the Brazilian Navy the 2004 Safety at Sea Award, recognizing the participation of Alian’a and the ship in the Sea Traffic Information System (SISTRAM). ‘With the sea freight controlled by the Navy, we ensure increased safety and protection to the professionals dedicated to the work in the sea,’ said Julian Thomas, Alian’a's director-superintendent.

Alian’a's contributions also helped Brazil receive an award from UNDP, during a ceremony held at the United Nations, for the country’s tsunami victim relief efforts. Brazil was decorated for the mobilization of the country’s private sector.

Also in 2005, Dow Chemical Company granted Alian’a the Zero Acidentes Award, covering the period between June 2004 and June 2005.

In Manaus, Alian’a was honored by the Harbor Administration Council (CAP/Manaus) for relevant services provided during 2005.

Both Alian’a and Hamburg S’d received the Johnson&Johnson Awards in the ‘Sea Freight’ category.

Hamburg S’d won the Multilog’stica 2005 Award, promoted by the Portos & Com’rcio Exterior newspaper from Porto Alegre (RS), ‘Shipping company’ category. The winners were appointed by industry professionals during the Expocargo 2005 event, held in Novo Hamburgo. The purpose of the award was to highlight the work of companies and institutions towards enhancing and developing foreign trade-oriented activities.

Capping the honors was the Passe Livre Award, organized by Editora Abril, and presented to Hamburg S’d as the best international maritime service provider in 2005.
