On November 10, 2005, the "Alian'a Mau'" was christened at the "Terminal Santos Brasil" in the Port of Santos. The ship's sponsor was Ana Maria Furlan, wife of the Brazilian Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan.

Delivered as the "Monte Verde" in late August 2005 by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), the vessel operates in the Europe ' South America East Coast service for Alian'a. The renaming of the ship took place at the christening. The "Alian'a Mau'" is the last of six identical 5,552 teu containerships to have been built for Hamburg S'd/Alian'a.
