Aloha Air Cargo continues its growth in Hawaii's aviation field through Aloha Tech Ops - a new division of the company dedicated to maintaining and repairing airframes and engines for other airline operators.

'Formalizing these agreements establishes Aloha Tech Ops as a leading provider of maintenance and repair for commercial aircraft throughout Hawaii,' said Mike Malik, president of Aloha Air Cargo. 'We are pleased that we can offer these cost effective and customized services for a range of Boeing and Airbus aircraft types; it truly makes us a complete solution provider.'

Most recently, Aloha Tech Ops penned a contract with major carrier, Alaska Airlines, to fulfill all maintenance operations for its fleet of 737 aircraft in Hawaii, starting February 2010. WestJet Airlines is another carrier that recently joined the client roster. A dozen skilled employees experienced in Boeing 737 maintenance are expected to be hired at Aloha Tech Ops to accommodate the growth of the company. The engineering team at Aloha Tech Ops has an extensive background and has provided similar services to over 15 local and international customers, including Island Air, Japan Airlines, American Airlines, Air New Zealand and Korean Air.

Aloha Air Cargo's new role of technical operations is consistent with the company goal of deepening its roots in Hawaii and offering high-caliber customized services, while retaining jobs in the islands. Aloha Tech Ops is more economical for carriers with routes through Hawaii and a more environmentally-friendly alternative to sending planes elsewhere for repair.

'With WestJet's increased volume of flights between Hawaii and Canada ' it's beneficial for us to have a line-maintenance provider with in depth experience on 737NG aircraft. Working with Aloha Tech Ops offers peace of mind that our aircraft will receive the same level of service that we deliver ourselves,' said Rob Ballantyne, manager of maintenance control and international maintenance at WestJet.

All aircraft technicians at Aloha Tech Ops are Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) licensed and the staff includes Quality Assurance Managers who routinely perform Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) customer and internal audits. The Ground Service Equipment (GSE) technicians for Aloha Tech Ops are of the highest caliber, experienced and certified in Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).'
