Aloha Air Cargo, Hawaii's leading air-freight carrier, is pleased to announce that two members of its team have been awarded top honors for excellence in the aviation field from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), alongside more than a dozen general aviation industry sponsors. For the State of Hawaii, Darren Espina was named the 2011 Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year and Jeff Kim received the 2011 Avionics Technician of the Year award.

In addition, the Aloha Tech Ops division of Aloha Air Cargo received a Diamond Award for achieving 100 percent employee participation and certification in the FAA William O'Brien Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Awards Program, the program's highest honor. The award exemplifies the focus and completion of core training on maintenance safety, accident prevention and regulatory issues.

"Aloha Air Cargo's talented and dedicated staff is the reason for our company's continued success as a leader in the air-cargo transportation industry," said Lee Steele, president of Aloha Air Cargo. "We are genuinely proud of Darren Espina and Jeff Kim for their individual accomplishments, as we are of our entire team of employees for their total commitment to excellence through safety and technical training, who provide exceptional service to our customers and the community at large."

For nearly 50 years, the General Aviation Awards program has recognized individual aviation professionals on the local, regional, and national levels for their important contributions to aviation, education, and flight safety

"The nomination process includes submitting letters of recommendation from a supervisor, a co-worker, and a customer; it was effortless to find people eager to highlight both Darren and Jeff as being outstanding technicians that are well-deserving of this impressive accolade," said Angelia Keene, technical training instructor at Aloha Air Cargo.

Espina and Kim work in the Aloha Tech Ops division of Aloha Air Cargo, a leading provider of aircraft maintenance and repair services for commercial aircraft in the State of Hawaii. Aloha Tech Ops and facilities comply with the FAA's FAR 121 airline and FAR 145 repair station guidelines. Aloha Air Cargo also offers a number of air-cargo transportation services, such as Aloha Same Day, Overnight, and FlexShip - including shipping of: animals and high-value items, perishable, and dangerous goods.
