American Airlines Cargo has completed the safe return of more than 200 pieces of gold and ancient artifacts from London to the Museo del Oro in Bogotá, Colombia.  Working on the return leg - as with the outbound - in close collaboration with specialist art movement logistics company Momart,  the airline shipped the items from the Beyond El Dorado exhibition at the British Museum.
Bespoke packing cases (see photo) with the latest monitoring technology were re-packed to ensure the objects arrived back home in perfect condition. On-board couriers hand carried gold pieces which needed to be maintained upright, and special artwork cases protected the other pieces during transport which moved over Miami. “Once again and just like the inbound shipment, the handling of this very fragile consignment was totally seamless and professional,” says David Giles, Airport Operations Supervisor, Momart. “It’s great to see that our teams on the inbound run, in London, Miami and Bogota, were able to handle this highly complex single cargo movement with the same skill and dedication as back in September,” adds Tristan Koch, American’s Managing Director of Cargo Sales and Marketing – EMEA. “We are happy to have been able to play our part of such an important exhibition.”
