Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has won a two-year contract to provide cargo handling and customer service for American Airlines at Pearson International Airport, Toronto, Canada.
Effective since the end of February, the agreement sees WFS take over the airline’s 22,000 sq ft cargo facility at the airport, located next to the existing WFS operation.
American Airlines currently operates 70 weekly mainline flights from Toronto and over 90 regional services to Dallas Fort Worth, Los Angeles, La Guardia, Miami and Chicago. The carrier operates flights using a combination of Boeing 737-800, MD-80 and RJ aircraft.
John Sabol, WFS’s Senior Vice President of Cargo Terminal Services, said: ‘WFS is developing its handling operation in Toronto and the partnership with American Airlines provides a sustainable and mutually beneficial basis on which to do this. We look forward to working with American and providing the same high quality of service that we do in other locations.
‘We won this competitive tender by offering the best value in terms of price coupled with a track record of reliable and dependable service in meeting American Airlines’ exacting standards.’
WFS already provides cargo handling services for American Airlines in Las Vegas, Pittsburg and Washington Dulles as well as customer service in Houston.
In Toronto, WFS also represents United Airlines, US Airways, Alitalia and Finnair as well as trucking companies.
