The all-new 2012 Honda CR-V manufactured in East Liberty, Ohio will be exported through Jacksonville as a result of Honda’s expanding export business and the company’s confidence that JAXPORT is the ideal departure port for these vehicles en route to the Middle East, Africa and Puerto Rico.

“We are grateful for the growing commitment from Honda,” said AMPORTS President and CEO Steve Rand. “Trusting us with this new model of CR-Vs sends a clear message about the high quality of the work done here at the port in Jacksonville.”

Following a market study and competitive process, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. selected JAXPORT and its automotive servicing companies, AMPORTS and WWL, to handle a major portion of its growing export volume. Honda's export sales from the U.S. are up significantly for this current fiscal year, with projections for robust growth in sales to continue.

WWL handles exports of the Odyssey, Crosstour, and Pilot models through Jacksonville, while AMPORTS services the 2- and 4-door Accords, as well as the new CR-V business.

“Honda’s decision to increase their exports through JAXPORT is an important move,” said Roy Schleicher, JAXPORT Executive Vice President. “Thanks to the superior work being done by our tenants, partners and employees JAXPORT continues to solidify our position as the nation’s second-busiest vehicle handling port, and the nation’s number one port for vehicle exports.”

Total Honda North American exports are projected to continue to increase in the next few years. Other local businesses taking part in the expansion of JAXPORT ‘s export business include Hoegh Autoliners, Trailer Bridge, Crowley Maritime, ACE Trucking, and CSX.

The vision of the Jacksonville Port Authority is to be a major economic engine for Northeast Florida by continuing to be a premier diversified port in the Southeastern United States with connections to major trade lanes throughout the world.
