APL also shares Best Container Shipping Alliance award with New World Alliance partners

Global container shipping leader APL was this week named Best Transpacific Shipping Line at the 22nd Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCAs).

The AFSCAs are an annual event organized by Hong Kong-based shipping and supply chain newspaper Cargonews Asia. More than 12,200 readers of the paper were polled to select best-in-class companies in 42 categories. Award winners are regarded as industry benchmarks of excellence.

APL received the award at a gala ceremony in Singapore attended by several hundred industry figures. APL's Senior Vice President for the Transpacific, Bob Sappio, said: 'This is timely recognition of our leadership in the world's most dynamic trade lane. We have continued to focus on fulfilling our customers' supply chain needs despite a highly challenging environment in the TP that has seen fuel and related costs escalate and service levels threatened.'

APL also collected the award for Best Shipping Alliance on behalf of the New World Alliance, which also includes Mitsui OSK Lines and Hyundai Merchant Marine.

APL and its sister company APL Logistics were also top-three finalists in seven other award categories.
