APM Terminals (Jamaica), Ltd., concluded its operations managment contract with the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT). KCT is owned by the Port Authority of Jamaica and has been managed by APM Terminals since 2001. At the conclusion of the contract, management will be transferred back to the port authority.

“APM Terminals has enjoyed a positive and productive relationship with the Port Authority of Jamaica for the last eight years,” said Alan McCorkle, Senior Vice President. “The hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Kingston Container Terminal has been integral to its success and we are proud to have been a part of the terminal’s many accomplishments including ISPS certification, recognition by the Caribbean Shipping Association and the ongoing Fifth‐Phase Expansion project.”

While under APM Terminals’ management, KCT was twice named “Best Container Port” by the Caribbean Shipping Association. Renewal of the operations contract was not pursued in order to facilitate the port’s potential privatization.
