Brazil’s LLX Logistica SA received a license to build a cargo terminal at its Port of Açu north of Rio de Janeiro, the company said in a statement. The license was granted by Rio de Janeiro state’s environmental protection agency.
The cargo terminal will comprise 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) of docks built along a man-made channel 6.5 kilometers long and 300 meters (984 feet) wide and serve as a center for Brazil’s offshore oil industry and the transport of general cargo and dry and liquid bulk goods, the statement said. LLX is controlled by Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista.
