On July 27 Athens International Airport witnessed the arrival of Alitalia's freighter which, for the month of August, replaces a regular Road Feeder service. The AB300/B4-203 Freighter, brings over sized cargo from Malpensa and then continues on to Cairo.
Akis Mylonas, Alitalia's cargo manager at AIA stated that there would be five of these flights during the month of August.
Athens International Airport is currently developing as a freighter and Sea/Air hub for the Mediterranean region. The forthcoming Freighters Conference in October will be held in Athens.
