Cargo carrier Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc is disappointed over Boeing Co's delay of first delivery of the 747-8 Freighter jet and may seek remedies, an Atlas official said.

Dan Loh, director of investor relations, said Atlas Air has orders for 12 747-8 Freighters on the books and had been expecting to receive three planes in early 2011.

Boeing announced that it would delay first delivery of the jet to mid-2011 from the fourth quarter of 2010

"We've expressed our disappointment to Boeing about this development and the situation," Loh told Reuters, adding that the delay was not a surprise.

He said Atlas Air would "be looking at the protection of remedies that we have in our contract with Boeing to make sure that we get the full benefit of our agreement with them."

He said he was not able to comment specifically on possible remedies.

Atlas Air provides charter freight services to commercial airlines and the U.S. military.

"We don't as yet have a new agreed-upon schedule with Boeing that would replace the schedule that we had been working on with regard to 2011," Loh said. (Reuters)
