BioPortEurope has been taken over by two of its partners and turned into a commercial enterprise to offer integrated business services for life science companies wanting to enter the European market. IJS Global and Seijgraaf Advisory Group, as the lead partners, have teamed up with Mazars – the global audit, accounting and consulting group-, Rabobank and the Amsterdam Economic Board to offer a complete package of services to provide life science companies with technical expertise and knowledge.
BioPortEurope was created in 2010 as a project from Amsterdam Innovation Motor to facilitate Indian life science companies expanding their business into the European market.  It gave them specialist knowledge in a wide range of fields including: market access, reimbursement, tax, finance, banking, certification, logistics, supply-chain, distribution, warehousing, Customs, finding strategic partners and technology transfer
It was a fixed term project which will shortly conclude, but has proved so successful that its partners could readily see how the concept could be both rolled out and expanded to other parts of the world.
Says Rene de Koning from IJS Global who is also Business Development Director of the new BioPortEurope: “The global healthcare, life sciences and med tech industries are rapidly changing markets which all have underlying growth rates of between 3 and 10%. “Compliance, local regulations and fully transparent supply chains are an essential part of how we as an organisation can add value to companies looking to enter Europe.
“We are already working closely with a number of key customers and will further strengthen our solutions package this summer with the addition of a number of other specialist partners.  “Once this is complete we are planning our first series of roadshows and seminars in the USA this autumn to attract new additional business,” adds de Koning.
States Anne de Graaf, Project Manager Life Sciences and Health at the Amsterdam Economic Board:  “We are very pleased with the take up of the BioPortEurope project.  This tie up between larges companies and SMEs with specialist skills is an innovative and comprehensive solution for companies who wish to enter or expand their operation to the European market.  We at the Amsterdam Economic Board remain actively committed to involvement and strengthening Life Science and Healthcare solutions both in the Amsterdam Metropolitan area and The Netherlands as a whole”.
