BirdDog, a transportation services company focused on providing solutions to both shippers and motor carriers, announced it has acquired Glastonbury, CT-based Foley Services, Inc., a nationwide provider of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory compliance services.

The deal greatly expands BirdDog's carrier services offerings. BirdDog can now assist transportation companies with their drug and alcohol testing programs while helping them comply with the DOT's pending implementation of CSA 2010.

The ability to assist motor carriers with DOT compliance and improve cash flow through BirdDog's freight factoring service makes BirdDog a one-stop shop for motor carriers and their back-office operations. The acquisition of Foley and its 17,000 customers establishes BirdDog as a leader in the carrier services industry and gives Foley customers access to BirdDog's transportation factoring service.

"This acquisition bolsters our position as the single-source provider of regulatory compliance and financial services for small to midsized carriers ' the cornerstone of the trucking industry," said Joel L. Sitak, President and Chief Executive Officer of BirdDog. "Foley's services are a great example of the type of solutions our customers are looking for and that fit well within our long-term growth strategy.'

"Rarely do you come across an opportunity with such great synergy,' said Donald E. Lewis, President of Foley Services. 'Our customers will benefit greatly from the expanded portfolio of services and BirdDog's ability to further fuel growth.'We are excited to join the BirdDog team and look forward to continued success.'

BirdDog's carrier services business unit will operate under the brand Foley Carrier Services.
