On May 1, cargo counts handed over responsibility for the bulk of its cargo handling operations at German airports to its parent company Lufthansa Cargo (LCAG). The agreement will apply at Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Bremen, Cologne, D'sseldorf, Hanover, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Berlin-Tegel.

The future cooperation is of major significance given the steady increase in cargo enquiries and the related demands on cargo counts. cargo counts provides Total Cargo Management (TCM) services for various airlines. The cargo logistics expert markets available cargo space for airlines whose core business is passenger transport on international charter and scheduled routes.

Seamless handling procedures are crucial, particularly in the case of just-in-time delivery processes such as the transport of perishable goods. LCAG is the perfect partner for cargo counts and is ideally placed to meet these requirements for the Hattersheim-based total cargo management experts. 'Concluding the agreement with our parent company was a logical step for us. Both sides will benefit from the synergies and we will thus avoid an outflow of cash from the Group. We are looking forward to this collaboration,' said Alexander Sch'ffer, Director Operations at cargo counts.

LCAG will be responsible for ground handling, document management, tracking and the delivery of cargo to the customer at destination airports in Germany. Internal collaboration within the Group will not only generate additional business for the parent company. Another major advantage is that cargo counts customers will benefit greatly from LCAG's high quality standards and experience in export and import cargo handling. 'The air cargo business is characterised by rising costs and increasing customer requirements in terms of service and information. With our coordinated processes in the handling area we will be able to provide optimal support for cargo counts,' said Mohammad Ali Seiraffi, Vice President Cargo Handling Germany.
