Cargoitalia ' Italy's scheduled cargo airline ' has scooped awards from two leading Italian design bodies, for its distinctive 'OUR NATURE IS TO TRANSPORT CARGO' advertising campaign, featuring a pelican whose head has been transformed to resemble an aircraft cockpit. The airline took the stage alongside major brand names at both awards ceremonies held in Milan.

Mediastars - the Italian advertising technical award scheme ' has awarded Cargoitalia the 2010 MediaStar prize for its Press section, first place in the General category and also in the Specialised category. This year's Mediastars award winners also include Lancia, Lavazza and BNP Paribas, and were chosen by a panel of senior advertising professionals.

Cargoitalia has also won the Transport and Energy category of the Press and Outdoor Key Awards, organized by Media Key ' specialist publishers for the Italian media sector. The airline's campaign was one of 350 competing for awards; the winners were chosen by a panel of communications experts, journalists, university lecturers and ad agency creative directors. Other 2010 Media Key winners include IKEA, Timberland and Ray-Ban.

Says Cargoitalia Commercial Director Roberto Gilardoni: 'We knew our campaign had been widely noticed, because we have had tremendous feedback from the market during the year we have been running it around the world. But we were surprised and delighted to have won awards in such prestigious competitions, and alongside such major household names.

'Since we re-launched Cargoitalia, we have tried to bring a fresh approach to everything we do. This is also reflected in our advertising, where we have deliberately abandoned the stereotypes of our industry in favour of something that better expresses what we stand for. We compliment our agency, 3d'esign Communication, on their excellent work.'
