Cargoitalia has selected iCargo as its new IT framework, replacing the legacy system inherited from the original Cargoitalia operation which it purchased in 2009.

iCargo will go live in July, running all aspects of the Cargoitalia operation from quotes and bookings through capacity management, revenue management, targets, messaging, track and trace, accounting both direct and through CASS, proof of deliveries and irregularity reports, to ULD management.

The airline's GSAs will also be able to communicate with Cargoitalia via iCargo, submitting bookings and receiving updates for their customers. iCargo is hosted on remote servers, and can be accessed over the internet. iCargo has all Cargo 2000 functions embedded, is an IATA partner and is e-Freight-ready.

Says Cargoitalia Commercial Director Roberto Gilardoni: 'Efficiency is a key aspect of the Cargoitalia business model, and essential both in providing optimum customer service and also helping to insulate our business against the tough environment in which airlines must now operate.

"A state of the art IT system is fundamental to our continuing success, and the selection of iCargo follows a lengthy and detailed study and evaluation. We are very excited about the benefits that the new system will bring to our business."

Adds Murray Kidd, Vice President and Head o fGlobal' Sales, Airline Cargo Services, IBS: "We are delighted that Cargoitalia has chosen iCargo to manage its business. Moving to the iCargo platform will help Cargoitalia streamline processes, enhance efficiencies and productivity, and enable it to manage growth profitably. This contract strengthens our cargo presence in Europe, and underscores the value iCargo offers in terms of superior features and integration of functionality'.
