CEIBA Cargo, national airline of Equatorial Guinea, has selected Aero Cargo, part of the ECS Group, as its new general sales agency in Germany. Although offline, CEIBA Cargo and Aero Cargo are confident of generating healthy volumes in Germany based on the country's close business ties with Equatorial Guinea. The African nation has a growing oil and gas industry and, in addition, companies from across Europe are also involved in the project to extend Equatorial Guinea's current seaport.
'
ECS Group's network of offices in Germany ' covering Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich ' enables it to collect cargo on a countrywide business for its airline customers. The new contract reflects the strong business relationship between CEIBA Cargo and ECS Group's headquarters in Paris. The two companies also work together in Spain. 2010 was a year of massive growth for ECS in Germany with tonnage generated by its group businesses exceeding 41 million kilos ' a 51% increase over 2009 volume. In the past 12 months, ECS has won contracts in Germany with Bringer Cargo, CEIBA Cargo, Flybe, Garuda Indonesia, National Airlines and Navitrans.
Antonio Oliveira, General Manager of Aero Cargo in Germany, said: 'We are very proud to have won this new contract and we are confident that together with CEIBA, we will be able to establish a regular and professional service for the German market. Furthermore, we are quite sure that this product is going to develop well alongside our existing African airline customers, including Africa West and Brussels Airlines.'
