CenterPoint Properties has announced a new development for Friant & Associates, a manufacturer of customizable high-end office systems, to the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Suffolk. CenterPoint is developing a 357,000 square foot built-to-suit distribution center facility on 25 acres of land for the firm. Construction on the facility is underway at CIC-Suffolk, and has an expected completion of June 2015. Friant & Associates entered a 10-year lease on the state-of-the-art property, which boasts immediate access to Route 58, I -95, the Port of Virginia, and a population of over 110 million people. The Class A warehouse features 9,600 square feet of office, showroom and warehouse space, as well as 30 dock positions and 15 trailer parking positions. “We look forward to the opportunity to develop a site that will help Friant & Associates surpass its distribution goals and grow its regional client base,” said Bob Harbour, senior vice president, development, at CenterPoint Properties. “The supply chain connectivity offered by this particular location—a two-day delivery window to the entire East Coast—is a big deal.” Centrally located at the Mid-Atlantic Port of Virginia, the CIC – Suffolk offers 5.8 million square feet of Class A distribution and warehousing space divisible to 50,000 square feet of contiguous space. Space is available for lease or sale. Current tenants include ACE Hardware (336,000 SF) and the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) (350,000 SF).
