UPS opens new distribution facility in McKinney

MCKINNEY, Texas, Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UPS (NYSE: UPS) announced the addition of two new package distribution facilities in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, one facility to open in the city of McKinney. The distribution facility located in McKinney will bring approximately 120 new full-time jobs to the area. By 2017, UPS will also bring over 200 part-time jobs to McKinney.

ATA truck tonnage index increased 1.3% in July

ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Trucking Associations' advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index rose 1.3% in July, following a decrease of 0.8% the previous month. In July, the index equaled 130.2 (2000=100) versus 128.6 in June. The index is off just 0.6% from the all-time high in November 2013 (131.0).
