GSC Logistics’ Arsenault hails CMA CGM’s first port of call at Oakland

The decision by French ocean carrier CMA CGM to make the Port of Oakland its first port of call in a new service from Asia is a reflection of importers and exporters developing new markets closer to their customers: “First-call status demonstrates the market is viewing the Port of Oakland more strategically which will attract increased cargo volumes,” says GSC Logistics Harbor Trucking President Dave Arsenault.

JAXPORT unveils new Strategic Master Plan during 2021 State of the Port address

Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) Chairman Jamie Shelton and Chief Executive Officer Eric Green unveiled the port’s new 2020-2025 Strategic Master Plan during today’s virtual State of the Port address. The plan was developed by JAXPORT’s senior leadership team with support from international maritime consultant Martin Associates.

Clean VLCC leaves Rotterdam carrying gasoil

Clean VLCC Silverstone has embarked on another clean cargo voyage, having left Rotterdam February 19 with 2 million barrels of gasoil and signaling for Lome, Togo. 740,000 bbls were loaded via ship-to-ship from Vopak Terminal Europoort on February 8, and another 1.26mn bbls via ship-to-ship in the Europoort Lightering zone on February 19.

Valenciaport closed 2020 as the leading Spanish port in the number of containers handled, in freight traffic on the motorways of the sea (ro-ro cargo) and in car trade, according to data from the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) and Puertos del Estado (State Ports). The triple leadership reflects the export activity of the Valencian Community and Spain concentrated in the port of Valencia in the second half of 2020, and which continues in the beginning of 2021.

Port of Oakland names Lam Chief Financial Officer

A key architect of the Port of Oakland’s COVID-19 response has been named the agency’s Chief Financial Officer. The Port said today that Julie Lam ascended to the post Feb. 8.  She had been Acting CFO for the past 10 months.
