An eleven-member delegation from Jiangsu Province, China, recently visited the Glen Burnie, Maryland headquarters office of logistics company John S. Connor, Inc.

The delegation was headed by Shen Jialun, vice president general of the Jiangsu Chamber of Import and Export Commerce. The purpose of the visit was to explore American distribution management and logistics systems.

According to Richard Higgins, director of sales and marketing at John S. Connor, the delegation's visit was arranged through the Maryland Department of Economic and Business Development, which has an office in Shanghai, named the Maryland China Center. The purpose of the center is to assist Maryland-based companies doing business in China.

'The delegation was made up primarily of representatives of the textile industry in China,' stated Higgins. 'They were interested in learning about the importation of textile between China and the US. We showed them the actual operations of a customs brokerage firm, and gave them tours of our warehouse and shipping and receiving facilities. Members of the delegation told us they were very impressed with what they learned.'
