New step in CMA CGM's development

On May 23, 2005 the fifth largest world container shipping company inaugurated its new American head office in Norfolk, Virginia, in presence of Mr. Jacques Saad', Chairman of the Executive Board CMA CGM.

CMA CGM group is centralizing and optimizing its North American operations in order to compete with the growth of traffic from and to the United States.

Four hundred people are based in this new 90,000 square feet (8,000 square meter) ultra modern building, equipped with the latest communication technologies.

The Group has reached its first milestone of building its own regional offices with the same style, atmosphere and equipment level as the head office in Marseilles.

The building reflects CMA CGM's long term commitment to the US market, with a staff of 500 and 28 offices.

CMA CGM already offers 21 weekly services calling at 16 American ports, a departure every eight hours. CMA CGM notably operates nine trans-Pacific lines: six lines between Asia and the West coast of the United States and three lines between Asia and East coast, via the Panama Canal.

CMA CGM group operates a fleet of 182 ships serving 76 main shipping routes calling 216 ports in 126 countries.

In 2004, the Group earned 4 billion Euros in total revenue, with more than 8,000 employees worldwide.
