The CMA CGM Group, via its American subsidiary CMA Terminals California (CTC), has announced that it has become a stakeholder of the Pacific Maritime Services (PMS) Joint Venture to operate PIER J Terminal at the Port of Long Beach, California, USA.

As from the 26th November 2012, the Pacific Maritime Services (PMS) Joint Venture is operated in partnership between SSA Marine, COSCO and CMA Teminals California (CTC),

PIER J Terminal benefits from highly automated equipment able to handle up to 1.5 million lifts each year. Technical characteristics includes a 1800m long quay, 17 Gantry cranes, and a 15.8m draft, offering accessibility to over 12 000 TEU capacity container vessels.

PIER J Terminal is CMA CGM’s 1st port investment on the US West Coast, and the 3rd one in USA. CMA CGM currently calls Pier J with its “Pearl River Express” service with vessels of 9600 TEUs.

To this day, CMA CGM Group has invested in 29 container terminals worldwide, as part of its continued strategy aiming at securing berthing space for its ships, and ensuring the speed and efficiency of its shipping operations.
