By: | at 04:05 PM | Intermodal

Con-way Freight, the nationwide less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), announced today that it will institute a general rate increase averaging 5.4 percent applicable to non-contractual business, effective March 31.

The rate increase will be implemented for customers on the company’s CNW 599 tariff and will apply to general LTL rates, minimum charges and accessorial or supplemental fees for special services associated with LTL shipments moving within the United States and Canada, as well as cross-border shipments moving between the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

The effect of the rate increase will vary for individual customers and shipments based on characteristics such as geography, lane, product classification, weight and dimensions. Customers can view the new rates after March 31 on the Con-way website at MyCon-way.com.

Con-way Freight provides time-definite regional and national LTL services with the industry’s fastest and most reliable transit times through a network of 425 service locations in the United States and Canada, and provides service to and from Mexico in partnership with sister company Con-way Truckload. With 21,000 employees, Con-way Freight operates a fleet of 8,600 tractors and 25,000 freight trailers.
