Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc., announced it has been recognized by Transfreight with its 2011 LTL Carrier of the Year award.

The company presented Con-way Freight with the honor at its inaugural carrier recognition event held recently at the Oasis Conference Center in Loveland, Ohio. Transfreight, a North American third-party logistics provider with its U.S. headquarters in Erlanger, Ky., delivers customized, lean supply chain solutions for customers in varied industries. A wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Transfreight has been improving supply chains since 1988 though a combination of supply chain engineering, transportation management, asset-based transportation and facility services.

To determine the winner in the LTL category, Transfreight evaluated its motor carriers on a range of objective performance criteria, including on-time pickup and delivery, accurate and timely invoicing, safety and compliance, and cargo claims quotient. Con-way Freight has served the national LTL needs of Transfreight since 2007, handling several of their key accounts.

'Since our relationship with Con-way Freight began more than four years ago, the company has consistently raised the bar on the level of service they've delivered, demonstrating loyalty and a dedication to customer service, professionalism and quality along the way,' said John Lower, General Manager, Outsourced Transportation, Transfreight. 'They understand our business needs and have been instrumental in helping us maintain our competitive edge. It's a pleasure to recognize their efforts with our LTL Carrier of the Year award.'

'This award really recognizes the focus of our people on taking care of our customers and providing a level of fast, reliable service that contributes to more efficient supply chain operations,' said Greg Lehmkuhl, president, Con-way Freight. 'I'd like to thank Transfreight for this recognition, which is a direct result of superior team performance ' from pickup through line-haul to delivery ' by our employees. We're certainly proud to have achieved the high standards of excellence Transfreight demands.'
