Crowley's logistics group announced that US Customs designated its Jacksonville distribution center as a licensed (bonded) container freight station (CFS). With this elite designation, the Crowley warehouse becomes one of only 25 bonded warehouses in the Jacksonville area.

"The new license will allow the company to accept freight from customers that have not yet cleared US Customs and either deliver the freight within the US or transfer it beyond the US to its final destination," said Ken Black, manager of business process improvement.

The rigorous application process meant that the warehouse had to pass a physical inspection to verify building security.' Additionally, the warehouse staff was required to demonstrate their knowledge of procedural regulations required to operate a CFS listed under Part 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

The company's 34,000 square foot logistics warehouse is located at 1420 Vantage Way, Unit 106 in Jacksonville.' It offers over 1,500 racked pallet positions along with floor space.' It has 15 dock-high loading doors and is conveniently located to Jacksonville's International Airport as well as major highways and seaports.' This warehouse is one of seven that the company operates throughout North and Central America and the Caribbean.

"This licensing will allow us to further position ourselves to provide warehousing and distribution services to customers of the port of Jacksonville including those future customers that will come with the planned port expansion," said Black.
