Dachser announced its acquisition of the remaining 50 percent of MGI & Dachser to create Dachser Korea, Inc. The global logistics provider has maintained a presence in South Korea since 2006 and became the sole shareholder of the joint venture in December 2013. In addition to renaming the company on July 1, Dachser Korea, Inc. also moved into new offices in Seoul. “Its high-powered economy and its tremendous technological capabilities make this nation of 50 million people one of Germany’s most important economic partners in East Asia,” said Thomas Reuter, COO Dachser Air & Sea Logistics. With headquarters in the nation’s capital, Dachser will also conduct sea freight business in Busan and air freight handling in the company’s most important hub, Incheon. In addition, the logistics provider offers professional loading services specifically for air freight pallets (consolidation) at the Dachser warehouse facility on the airport grounds. “We plan to pursue the targeted expansion of our activities in the Korean market and leverage the close logistical connection to Greater China, the US and Europe for our customers,” said Roman Müller, Managing Director of Dachser Korea. The joint venture, MGI & Dachser, has established a strong presence in the Korean market. In the future, Dachser Korea, Inc. will place particular focus on expanding sea freight activities in Busan.
