DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics opens a new Swiss branch in Reinach near Basle to consolidate all its sea freight activities.

Since the beginning of August 2008, the international logistics provider DACHSER has handled its seafreight operations for Switzerland from a new branch near Basle. DACHSER Switzerland's seafreight department has moved from Glattbrugg to Basle; air freight activities continue to be handled in Zurich. The new branch in Basle will also integrate the DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics sales office so far located in Birsfelden. It is planned in the near future to reinforce the DACHSER team at the new location with new staff members.

In charge of the new branch is Andreas Ott. As manager of the Basle branch, Andreas Ott will continue to head up the Zurich-based sales team responsible for the whole of Switzerland.

The move places DACHSER in Switzerland's only inland port. Basle accommodates the biggest container terminals, with excellent links to road, internal waterway and rail networks. Basle is also home to the majority of shipping company agencies and therefore an important hub for local import and export activities.

In 2007 DACHSER generated total sales of USD 5.1 billion. 17,100 staff working in 297 profit centres worldwide handled 39.1 million shipments weighing a total of 25.8 million tons.
