International Produce (IPL), part of the Walmart group, is the biggest single importer of fresh produce in the UK. At the 3rd annual IPL logistics conference held in the UK on May 9th, Damco won two prestigious awards for excellence in logistics and sustainability. Damco is a leading global logistics provider and part of the A.P. Moller ' Maersk Group.

Firstly, Damco's overall global contribution to IPL was recognised when they won the evening's most coveted award, Service Provider of the Year.

IPL Operations Director Jason Kelly said Damco had won the title of Service Provider of the Year "for their flexibility, support and exceptional service whilst also supporting IPL to exploit alternative modes of transport and reduce its carbon footprint'.

His comments on sustainability showcase the strength of Damco as an organisation specialised in supplying modern logistics services that enhance supply chains while lowering the overall carbon footprint. Winning this award also confirms a key component of Damco's business strategy of being close to the customer and delivering a tailor-made global solution based on service and innovation.

'This accolade is particularly pleasing as it bears testament to a real team effort by the Damco offices involved in servicing IPL around the world. Damco offices in South Africa, Chile, USA, Canada, Morocco, Spain, Brazil and Costa Rica have all been directly involved in solving IPL's needs over the past year,' said Damco Head of Perishables, Ole Schack Petersen.
