DGX-Dependable Global Express has opened a full service facility in Amman, Jordan, the freight forwarder's first office in the Middle East.

The new office will provide a wide range of logistics services to corporate, government and military customers including ocean and air freight forwarding, customs clearance, inbound and outbound trucking. The new facility also will offer warehousing space for storage and inventory control.

In charge of the new facility is Maamoon "Mike" Al-Sane, Regional Manager, with twenty years experience in all phases of Middle East logistics. During that time, he has forged close links with airlines and shipping companies serving Middle Eastern nations.

For ocean transportation, DGX-Dependable Global Express will move both containerized freight and project cargo.' Al-Sane said that project cargo, or heavy oversized freight, "is a particularly important part of the Middle East transportation mix. There are substantial requirements by the oil industry, the US military and companies like General Electric and Fluor who have extensive contracts with Middle Eastern nations." He noted that DGX-Dependable Global Express "is one of the relatively few forwarders specializing in this phase of ocean transport."

The Regional Manager pointed to the importance of Iraq as a destination for both commercial and military cargo.' He noted the Iraqi port of Um Qaser now is'serving as a gateway to Iraq after two years of reconstruction. "The port can accommodate both containerized and break bulk vessels," said Al-Sane. "We can handle all business to Iraq from our new Jordanian facility. DGX-Dependable Global Express welcomes business to a nation which has passed a milestone with the celebration of Sovereignty Day."

Air Shipments will be handled by DAX-Dependable AirCargo Express, a sister division to DGX-Dependable Global Express. Al-Sane commented the air division "will handle all weight breaks, from package deliveries to full aircraft."

The Regional Manager stressed that Jordan, "as one of the most stable nations in the Middle East, has become increasingly important as a transportation bridge for surface, ocean and air traffic to Europe and Asia. With DGX-Dependable Global Express' network of US and overseas offices manned by our own, full time personnel, we can meet the diverse needs of shippers everywhere."

The forwarder's office in Amman now is linked to each of DGX-Dependable Global Express' worldwide facilities through an advanced IT system that tracks and retrieves information for customers almost instantaneously.

The company's third division is DHX-Dependable Hawaiian Express, one of the largest forwarders serving Hawaii and the islands of the Pacific. In business for 28 years, the company's worldwide headquarters is located near Long Beach, California.
