New direct air service speeds cross-border shipments for US and Canadian customers.

DHL, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company, introduces a new daily air service between the US and Western Canada, designed to meet the growing needs of customers shipping across the northern US border. The new service provides the most competitive transit times in key Western Canadian markets, as well as additional express service options, including next day delivery for heavyweight shipments weighing over 150 pounds between the entire US network and Western Canada.

DHL's new daily direct service from its principal US air and ground hub in Wilmington, Ohio, to Calgary, Alberta, with a subsequent stop in Vancouver, British Columbia, now offers customers the earliest arrivals and latest departures in the Calgary and Edmonton markets within the industry as well shorter transit times to and from Vancouver. The service also enables next day delivery for larger non-conveyable shipments, which comprise a critical segment of the overall US-Canada cross-border volume shipped by key industries, including automotive, energy, agriculture and forestry.

'Trade between the US and Canada, the most significant trade lane for both countries, presents an enormous opportunity for DHL to expand its cross-border solutions, offering customers a wider range of services,' said Lindsay Birley, Executive Vice President of International Products and Services for DHL Express USA. 'By directly linking our extensive delivery network in the US with our strong footprint in Western Canada, the new air route allows us to move shipments faster and more efficiently, while offering customers additional express service options for their larger cross-border shipments.'

'Western Canada's continued strong economic growth has fueled increasing demand for cross-border shipping,' said Barry Schellenberg, Vice-President - Prairie Region, DHL Canada. 'US consumers and suppliers represent some of the most significant business partners to many Western Canadian companies. DHL's new service not only facilitates the boom in shipping volume between these destinations, but also offers local companies a competitive advantage and greater flexibility in shipping and receiving of goods.'

The new US-Canada service is DHL's latest move under its North America Trade Lane initiative, which was launched in November 2006 to increase the speed and efficiency of cross-border shipments across North America. Earlier this year, DHL opened two gateways in Hermosillo and Merida, Mexico, and introduced a new service in Southern Texas to better serve the needs of customers shipping across the US-Mexico border.
