As the Official Express and Logistics Provider for the weekend event, DHL is bringing the “speed of yellow” to the Grand Prix of Baltimore both on and off the track. Highlights include ownership of Turn 1 – also known as the DHL Turn – at the corner of Pratt and Light Streets, the DHL Paddock and two DHL Speed Zones, which will offer a variety of activities for race fans around the sprawling Grand Prix of Baltimore course. Racing fans won’t be able to miss the distinctive red and yellow logo on trackside billboards and during pre-race ceremonies for the IZOD IndyCar Series and American Le Mans Series events.

DHL is the full primary sponsor of the Andretti Autosport No. 1 IndyCar entry driven by Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series champion. Ryan, who has been running the No. 1 since the start of the racing season, won the 75-lap street course last year in Baltimore and all eyes are on the reigning champion again as he looks to defend his title.

The Grand Prix of Baltimore will take place in the heart of downtown Baltimore, with a 12-turn, 2-mile course that snakes through downtown and alongside the Inner Harbor and Camden Yard. This 180mph Festival of Speed is expected to bring more than 100,000 spectators to watch the cars and stars of the American Le Mans Series and the IZOD IndyCar Series.

Prior to the festivities, on Thursday, September 29, DHL will participate as a gold sponsor of The Yellow Party, a fundraiser for Ryan Hunter-Reay’sRacing for Cancercharity. Hunter-Reay co-foundedRacing for Cancerand is one of only 13 Global Envoys for the LIVESTRONG organization.

Since 2011, DHL has been the Official Express and Logistics provider of Andretti Autosport. With approximately 285,000 employees in more than 220 countries and territories, DHL is the global market leader in the international express and logistics industry.

“We are thrilled to sponsor one of the most popular IndyCar races of the season and help bring racing fans an unforgettable experience full of high-speed fun this Labor Day weekend,” said Christine Nashick, VP of Marketing for DHL. “It will truly be an exciting race, and we look forward to cheering on Ryan with our customers, employees and other racing fans as he defends his title.”
