The dollar extended gains versus the euro after a government report showed the US trade deficit narrowed sharply in November.

The euro fell as low as $1.3229 after the data, and last traded down 0.8% on the day at $1.3263.

The dollar also rose against the yen to 89.70, up 0.6%.

The US trade deficit narrowed to $40.44 billion, from a revised $56.69 billion in October and below economists expectations of $51.30 billion, the US government reported. (Reuters)
