Advises Interstate Carriers To File 2014 Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/—, the trucking industry’s premier Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) service provider, announced today that the December 31st, 2013 deadline to file 2014 Unified Carrier Registration is closing in on interstate motor carriers. The UCR program is a Federally-mandated, annual state-administered registration program under 49 United States Code (USC) Section 14504a. Fees are based on fleet size and compliance is MANDATORY for all interstate motor carriers, property brokers, forwarders and leasing companies operating in interstate commerce. “According to the national UCR administrator, there will be a strict January 1st enforcement date this year, which means carriers can face up to $1,100 civil penalties in certain jurisdictions during roadside inspections for non-compliance starting the first of the year.

DOTAuthority highly recommends interstate carriers get their UCR finalized in early December to avoid processing delays,” President James Lamb said. Lamb also pointed out that effective November 1, 2013, a new Federal rule allows the USDOT to issue civil penalties of $1,000 per day up to a maximum of $10,000 for interstate carriers that have failed to submit their biennial reports.
