duisport receives award for logistics real estate

The duisport group had been awarded the “Silver” DGNB certificate by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen [German Sustainable Building Council]. This reflects the quality of the sustainable construction project and is already the second award for the logistics property after the Logix Award.

duisport received the DGNB certificate for the construction of the logistics center for the automobile logistics services providers Schnellecke Logistics and Thimm Schertler. Both companies have been commissioned by Audi and have taken over the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) business for Audi in Duisburg since last July.

Overall, the world’s largest CKD site for the Audi Group encompasses around 53,000 m2 of covered storage area on an overall area of 106,500 m2. The logistics complex is connected by rail, road and waterways and has its own in-house track connection for the delivery of conventionally packaged parts by rail.

“The award reaffirms the continuation of our full-service approach and development of innovative solutions,” said Erich Staake, CEO of the Duisburger Hafen AG, on receiving the certificate.

The important aspects of sustainability, such as the reactivation of an old brownfield area, energy-saving technologies as well as the trimodal connection via the environmentally-friendly means of transport by ship and railway were decisive for the result of the certification process. The certificate was awarded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen [German Sustainable Building Council]. In order to promote sustainable construction, the non-profit organization developed a certificate system for evaluating particularly environmentally-friendly, resource-saving, economically efficient and optimized buildings for user comfort - the DGNB certificate.
