EGSAC ' the independent GSSA network ' has appointed Airline Marketing Services (AMS) as its exclusive member for Pakistan.

Family-owned AMS was founded in 2001 by Javed Johri, who has spent 35 years in the freight industry, largely in North America. The company's main client carrier is Air Canada Cargo.

AMS Director Omar Johri says: 'We are extremely honored to have been selected to join EGSAC, and we look forward to developing strong relationships with our fellow members in the years to come.

'Pakistan is a very strong export market, with the largest trading lanes being to North America, Europe, the Middle East and Far East. Airfreight plays an important role in international trade, and the potential for carriers is vast. We are looking to expand our market share and business by working with further carrier clients, and helping them to exploit the tremendous opportunity presented by this country.'

Adds EGSAC President Ton Smulders: 'We are delighted to welcome Airline Marketing Services to the EGSAC family. They are an excellent complement to our coverage of the region, which already includes India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

'This area has remained buoyant throughout the industry's recent tough trading conditions, and we expect a great deal of carrier interest in the future, as they re-shape their networks and re-allocate their fleets to achieve better revenue and yields. EGSAC is now ready to offer airlines total coverage of these important markets.'

The addition of AMS to the EGSAC network brings membership to 31, countries covered to 32, and bases to 127.
