PLSN on a slow but steady path to find quality cold chain specialists

The Perishable Logistics Specialists Network (PLSN) announces Eimskip Belgium NV as a new member.

'This is very good news for our group,' said Buford Hollis, business development director of PLSN, 'We are very young but we strive to build the best known perishables group in the world and Eimskip Belgium is definitely an asset when it comes to this goal.'

PLSN, which was founded in 2008, has been looking for only members with the right kind of experience to join their group. And this has not been an easy task.

'There have been several companies who submitted applications but we have had to turn them down,' explained Buford Hollis, 'To be a competent shipper of meats, fish, vegetables, etc., takes a specialized knowledge of cold chain logistics, which Eimskip Belgium has.' We cannot risk companies joining so that they can 'make a go of it'. That would be disastrous. And because of that we are growing quite slowly. And that is okay by us.'

Eimskip Belgium NV is a daughter company of the well known Icelandic company Hf. Eimskipaf'lag 'slands (Eimskip), the oldest shipping company in that country. Eimskip is a key international player in reefer logistics worldwide, and offers specialized services in handling any type of temperature controlled cargo - frozen or chilled. This service covers the whole logistics chain, including discharge of fishing vessels, transportation, warehousing and distribution, inventory control, customs formalities etc.

The Perishable Logistics Specialists Network (PLSN) is a network for the international cold chain logistics specialists who need reliable and efficient partners around the world who are able and ready to properly ship and store perishable cargo, no matter what the commodity. PLSN membership is a varied group of professional perishable experts who have years of experience handling this kind of cargo.
