DAS headquarter functions to move to WW Americas region headquarters.
New President & COO named for vehicle services company.Wallenius Wilhelmsen has announced that it will relocate the headquarters of Distribution Auto and Service, Inc. (DAS), the vehicle services company acquired by the carrier earlier this year, from Wilmington, CA, to it’s Region Americas headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. The transition is expected to be completed and fully functional by May 1, 2006. In a related development, the carrier has named Gary R. Long to replace Bill Sisco as President and Chief Operating Officer of DAS. Long had been appointed DAS’ Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning and Business Development last May, and is a twenty-six year veteran of the transportation and logistics industry. Sisco will remain with DAS as a special adviser to Long through December 31, 2005, to support a smooth transition of responsibilities and headquarter functions to New Jersey. Long will report to Chris Connor, CEO of DAS, and President of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Americas.
Other recent personnel changes within DAS include the following; Head of VPC Operations, Doug Minnis; Head of Network Operations, Alan Thiem; Head of Network Design and Development, Mark Guscott; Head of Nissan Operations and Support, Riki Howard; Head of Quality and Subassembly, Greg Harrison; Head of Mexico, Alejandro DiCesare; and Head of Canada, Howard Williams. The Commercial Team will remain Wayne Washington (Detroit), Jerry Mahoney (L.A.) and Jim Kilpatrick (NJ).
Commenting on the relocation, Chris Connor added, “The relocation to Woodcliff Lake will allow us to fully integrate DAS’ headquarter functions into WWL’s regional structure, and at the same time realize significant cost and management efficiencies. It is important to note that this move, while significant, impacts only the DAS headquarters staff. Operations at the plants, ports and across the distribution network are not impacted by the move.”
