New Education Director joins NCBFAA’s Washington, DC staff
National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) Executive Vice President barbara reilly announced that Jan paul Miller, is the new NCBFAA Education Director. In his new position, Director Miller is responsible for ensuring that the NCBFAA achieves its education and professional development goals through the delivery of quality educational programs, products and services.‘It is a tribute to the growing influence and importance of the NCBFAA that it is able to attract such a talented and motivated individual as Jan paul Miller to undertake what is an exciting new venue for us,’ said Ms. reilly.
A gifted educator with 35 years of experience, Mr. Miller has served with distinction as an academic administrator, teacher, editor, and consultant with experience in general studies, developmental and adult education, literacy, and learning disabilities in two and four-year post-secondary institutions, community-based organizations, and private practice. His strong academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, Master of Arts from Morgan State University Master of Education from Loyola College of Maryland, and he has substantially completed the coursework concentrating in learning theory and knowledge management for his doctorate from George Mason University.
‘This is a very exciting opportunity for me to work in a solid organization with significant history of serving its membership,’ Mr. Miller said. ‘I look forward to building on the work accomplished so far by the Educational Institute’s volunteers and welcome the challenge of delivering quality educational products that will not only enhance the professionalism our industry but also increase awareness of the NCBFAA’s educational programs.’
More than 2,000 participants are currently enrolled as Certified Customs Specialists or as candidates engaged in the coursework necessary to qualify for certification. The CCS program was rolled out in 2005 with export and business management programs expected to follow later next year.
