Toll Global Forwarding will move to a brand new UK headquarters building at London Heathrow Airport in October. The new facility ’ on a secure 2.65 acre compound on the North Feltham Trading Estate, close to Heathrow’s cargo village ’ will include 50,000 sq ft of warehousing featuring 8 truck docks, a cargo handling system, storage for 1200 pallets and a large, multi-zone chiller for perishables. The site will be accessed by a one-way traffic system.
The building will also house 20,000 sq ft of offices on three floors, featuring comfort cooling, solar shading and a two-storey-high reception area. Generous car parking for staff and visitors will include 15 spaces with electric charging points. The building will comply with BREEAM ‘Very Good’ sustainability standards, and the site will be fully landscaped.
The new Toll base will replace its existing facilities at nearby River Gardens, Feltham, and at Skyport Drive in Harmondsworth, which it acquired with the purchase of WT Cargo in 2011. The facility is being developed by Airport Property Partnership (APP), a joint venture partnership between SEGRO (as asset manager) and Aviva Investors (as fund manager). Toll is already an APP customer at its current River Gardens location. The new building’s architect is Michael Sparks Associates, while the main contractor is Winvic.
Work on the site commenced on April 8th, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 9th, attended by senior executives and staff of Toll Global Forwarding, SEGRO and Aviva.
Toll Global Forwarding’s Regional MD (EMEA), Hakan Bicil, says: ‘This new base at Heathrow will provide us with better access to the airport’s cargo terminals, improve our operational efficiency and enhance our customer service levels. It will also deliver a striking flagship headquarters for our fast-growing UK operations.’
Adds Alan Holland, Director of APP and SEGRO’s Business Unit Director for Greater London: ‘We have worked very closely with Toll Global Forwarding on their requirements. This new development will provide them with a secure, modern and efficient site from which they can expand their operations.’
