Coale elected Chairman of Port of Stockton Board
W. Ronald Coale was recently elected Chairman for the Port of Stockton Board of Port Commissioners Coale has a long history of service with the Port of Stockton, having been first appointed to the board by the Stockton City Council in 1991 and previously serving as board chairman in 1995 and 2001.“I appreciate the support of my colleagues, and I look forward to another exciting year as the Port continues its dynamic 1,400-acre development of the West Complex,” Coale said. “This project has already brought private sector investment of $750 million and hundreds of family-wage jobs to our community.”
In addition to his 17-year tenure on the Port Commission, Coale has been active in a number of civic and public service endeavors for many years. He was elected to the Stockton City Council in 1983, serving as Vice-Mayor from 1985 to 1990. He currently represents the Port of Stockton on the San Joaquin County Council of Governments, is Chairman of the Port/City/County/Union Liaison Committee, and is an active member of the California Marine Affairs and Navigation Conference.
Coale’s extensive professional background in transportation includes representing the California Trucking Association, employment with the California Public Utilities Commission, and instructor of transportation and logistics at San Joaquin Delta College.
Commissioner Gary Christopherson, a senior partner in the Stockton law firm of Kroloff, Belcher, Smart, Perry & Christopherson, was elected Vice-Chairman. The Port of Stockton Commission is comprised of seven members, with four appointed by the Stockton City Council and three by the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors.
