Ports America opens packaging company
Ports America Baltimore, Inc. has expanded its portfolio of capabilities, flexibility and services with the opening of a packaging operation in its Dundalk facility on November 1, 2008. This will establish Ports America’s first on-dock packaging and warehousing facility and support equipment to serve the general cargo, auto, boat, steel, and container operations market for US exporters, importers and manufacturers.Located at Dundalk Marine Terminal facility in the Port of Baltimore, MD, and accessed directly by railroad and all motor carriers, this facility provides a full range of specialized on-dock packing and shipping services for ocean-going international breakbulk, containerized or project freight between any world destination and manufacturers or assembly plants throughout the US Its services include packaging, crating, transportation coordination, warehousing, storage and container operations.
Mark Montgomery, SVP East Coast operations, commented on the startup.
“Ports America has a long record of serving its clients in the Port of Baltimore,” Montgomery said. “The addition of Ports America Packaging adds a new dimension to our ability to handle our customers’ diverse needs even more fully.”
The facility consists of 95 acres of lighted outside storage, 112,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, container platform, fenced property, over-weight container handling, over-dimensional and over-weight cargo handling, heavy-lift crane availability, dry-sprinkler system, stretch- and shrink-wrap services, 24-hour security surveillance, forklifts with SWL up to 52,000 pounds and four-point top-loading SWL to 80,000 pounds.
