Port of Gulfport moves special $20 million cargo
With capabilities for handling bulk, break-bulk, and containerized cargo, the Port of Gulfport recently moved a special shipment – two custom-built fast patrol boats were loaded onto the MV Thorco Attraction by Stevedoring Services of America. With an estimated value of $10 million each, these patrol boats are now headed overseas.

“It’s not every day we load a $20 million shipment in only two pieces of cargo,” said Don Allee, Mississippi State Port Authority Executive Director and CEO. “We have a skilled work force and the capabilities for handling all kinds of cargo.”
With 6,000 feet of berthing space, the Port of Gulfport is the third busiest container port in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and the second largest importer of green fruit in the U.S.
