Bahri Ro/Ro service begins calling Port of Houston’s turning Basin Terminal
Bahri (formerly National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia) is providing monthly roll on/roll off (RO/RO) service at the Port of Houston Authority’s Turning Basin, using a fleet of brand-new vessels to carry vehicles, railway and project cargo to the Middle East.Bahri Abha is the first of six new RO/RO vessels being built by Bahri, which is committed to expanding services through the upgrading of its entire fleet, according to Captain Ahmed Khan, Acting President of Bahri (America). Abha called Turning Basin during its April 29 maiden voyage.“In the last 30 years since we first started calling the Port of Houston, Bahri has grown tremendously to become one of the largest shipping companies in the world, with a modern fleet of 55 vessels operating in the oil and gas, chemical tankers, dry-bulk and RO/RO sectors,” Khan says.“Bahri Abha is the first of six new ships we are building to replace the older vessels on this route,” Khan says. The transition to the new vessels is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
