Joint venture offers state-of-the-art packaging centre in Mumbai
A state-of-the-art packaging centre specially designed to meet the international standards of exporters and manufacturers across India will open in Mumbai by September 1 this year.
The 44,000sq.ft warehouse, strategically located close to Mumbai and Nhava Sheva ports, is being managed by the Sahil Group who are the owners of freight forwarding specialist Sahil Freight Express.
Managing Director Suhail Shaikh said that the new business, Independent Packaging & Warehousing (IPW), was seeking a best practice joint venture partner to manage and operate the facility.
He said the successful partner would need specialised expertise in delivering export quality standard packaging for a range of customers across India and abroad, including the energy, telecommunications, health care, aviation and automotive industries.
“We believe IPW will fill a growing need for a facility of this kind and will reassure customers that the standard of service they receive, and the quality of the packaging, conforms to meet their needs,” Mr Shaikh said.
“The market place is seeking a packaging centre that meets international best practice and delivers superior quality, and that is the catalyst for this project.
“We are seeking a joint-venture partner to ensure that the management of the facility provides the technical know-how to add further value to customers who want the best protection for their machinery and products.”
Mr Shaikh said the joint-venture partner would be wholly responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business.
IPW will offer all certified packaging operations including providing crating, containers and boxes of any size, wrapping, and all finished goods would undergo a rigorous final inspection prior to shipping.

Facility details: Standalone facility built on 44,000 sq.ft, existing shed 5500 + 1200 (6700) sq.ft, with six loading and off-loading bays with plinth height 1.2m from ground level. Second shed 7500sq.ft within same compound to be ready to use by 1st October, 2013. Shed with 7m clear height at all corners and floor strength with tri-mix, very smooth flooring. Huge open yard measuring 35,000sq.ft. Separate office building with toilets. Overhead water tank with electric pump, tap water running across facility. 3 phase 15 kVA electric connections can be upgraded to higher load capacity. On-site security. Two-way road access.
